How exciting! First thing first. What colors will you choose? To help you out here is the Pantone color selection for 2020! I love the biscay green, coral pink and mosaic blue. I always tend to go with neutrals like the navy paired with a few different colors that blend nicely together. My colors for the spring will be the coral pink and the two blues! Try to pick out two colors and two neutrals. This way it will make it easy to build your spring wardrobe and everything will match. This will make it easy for you to create several outfits out of just a few items.

Spring Fashion Trends

Spring is almost here. The warmer days have arrived and getting me excited about my spring wardrobe. Hopefully you have completed your Closet Cleansing and you are now ready to decide what items you might need to buy to enhance your spring wardrobe. Go to Harper’s Bazaar for a full view of this springs fashions. I have decided to showcase my few favorites that I think every woman can wear depending upon her style and function. Harper’s Bazaar listed these 12 items in for spring: hot pants, bermuda shorts, neon, bra tops, crochet, leather, polka dots, feathers, vests, tiers, ruffles, 60’s wallpaper.

1. Hot pants & Bermuda shorts

Hot pants are back! Well, I think these are great for the 20 and 30 year olds. For those of us older, not to despair, Bermuda shorts are back too. I believe that women of all ages can wear these and they are so versatile in all avenues of our lives. These can be dressed down to look casual or dressed up for that trendy business look for the office. The other nice feature is you can decide whatever length you want and what looks good on you depending upon your body proportions. In the photo below you can see that she has gone for the casual look and went with the monochromatic colors, which is always classic and chic.

2. Vests

Vests are awesome no matter what season. They are the one item that you can layer on top of a blouse or sweater to provide warmth and style. There is something about this vest in the photo below which adds depth and style to this classic slip dress. The two neutrals paired together produces a trendy classic look which you can wear anywhere.

4. Tiers and Ruffles

I have to admit, these two things are my favorite when it comes to adding some style to my clothing items. I think it is because they add a touch of femininity and elegance to a garment. You do have to be careful about the size and location – if you are short and petite like me you can be drowning in fabric. If done right you will cherish these pieces forever.

5. 60’s Wallpaper

To tell you the truth I am not a big fan of bright colors and patterns, however I believe every woman should have at least one item in her wardrobe that will add a bit of flare. Especially for spring, a brightly colored and patterned blouse will dress up that simple A-line skirt for a BBQ or afternoon party or even for every-day wear. Or a simple dress with a wild pattern and color will have all your friends asking where you purchased that dress! Have fun with this item! If you want to start small then go for a scarf in a funky pattern with a bit of color.

6. Feathers

While I think feathers for details on a garment are attractive, having a whole skirt or dress covered in feathers is a bit too much. I prefer when they are used as a nice accent and add a feminine touch to an outfit, like this photo here with a soft flow of feathers at the hemline.

7. Leather

Leather is one of those items that never go out of fashion and one you can wear for sure in the fall and winter but also in the spring on a cool evening. I believe all women should own at least one leather/faux leather item whether it be a jacket, pants or skirt. My personal preference are to go with the man-made materials. The technology has come a long way in fabricating beautiful pieces that look and feel as soft as real leather but are man-made. Current trends are to also mix this fabric with other fabrics (soft flow fabrics) which is a nice idea to break up the heaviness of leather/faux leather. This will be a sure thing to add style to your wardrobe.

8. Polka Dots

Tried and true the polka dots always come back. My all time favorite was when Julia Roberts wore a beautiful brown polka dot dress in “Pretty Woman”, a movie released exactly 20 years ago today!
